Principle-based Agility Assessment
Most agile assessments focus on mechanics and practices which can lead to mechanical agile and agile theater.
This assessment focuses on behaviors aligned with principles that are core to agility. regardless of whether you use Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or any home-brew approach, this assessment will help you see if you're only "doing" Agile or also being/becoming more agile - which is much more valuable and important.
I use this assessment with teams and organizations just starting their journey, as well as with organizations which are stuck in agile theater and need a refresh/reboot.
This is a google sheet you can use to facilitate an assessment session with colleagues - whether it is a leadership team, a task force, or a specific team. each person in the session gets a column (see person X) in which they can fill in their answers to each question based on which answer resonates the most for them for the organization being assessed (could be a team, a group, a portfolio, a company).
After completing the assessment, the summary tabs show you which are the strongest principles and which principles are the biggest opportunity for growth. you can also look at subdimensions to have a more detailed conversation and discuss experiments/actions you want to take.
Hope this is useful. If you need help delivering this or taking action on it, here's where to find me.
